NAIL EXTENSION AFTERCARE TIPS

Now that you have gotten a new set of gel or acrylic nail extension, it is necessary to protect and care for your nails before your next appointment.

I have put together some important aftercare tips that will be helpful to care for your nails at home.

REFILLS

Depending on how fast your nails grow or the level of your activities, your nails will need refill/maintenance every 2-3weeks. Most people tend to wear their nails for longer because the nails are still strong and aren’t lifting but there is a higher risk of the nail breaking as it has grown out and isn’t as strong.

NAIL LIFTING

If your nail starts to lift or breaks, schedule an appointment to repair the nail to prevent any damage to the natural nails;

Do not glue or use plaster on a nail that has lifted as this can cause moisture to be trapped in and can lead to bacterial infections;

Do not try to repair or remove your nails at home;

Do not use sharp objects to try to pull out your extensions, do not bite or apply any forceful pressure.

CUTICLE OIL

Use cuticle oil daily preferably at night to enhance the look of your nails, nourish and moisturize your natural nails and extension.

NAIL POLISH REMOVER

When changing your polish at home avoid using pure acetone as this can cause damage to your natural nails as well as the extension.

NAILS ARE JEWELS NOT TOOLS

Putting any form of pressure on your extensions can cause trauma to your natural nails, do not pull your extensions backwards against the tips or upwards away from the natural nails as this can cause breakage, injury or weak nails.

GLOVES ARE NOT OVERRATED

When using household chemicals, gloves are very important as these chemicals are ash and unsafe for your nails and hands because they remove all natural oils from the skin and nails which can affect the condition of your nails and skin over time.

SECURE YOUR APPOINMENT

To prevent any further delay of your nails getting weaker make sure you contact your nail technician in good time to book your appointment.
